Jamie Odell and Tom Roberts established the label in June 1996 with the initial aim being to release Jamie’s own Jimpster and Audiomontage productions and later to sign and develop artists with a similar approach to producing innovative and soulful music.
Freerange has received having had tracks appearing on some 150+ quality compilations from the likes of Naked, NRK, Ubiquity, Grand Central, Compost, Global Underground and Om to name a few.
Things have really started to gather momentum in the past couple of years with a number of new signings, the introduction of a label compilation series (The Colour Series) and no less than 6 artist albums scheduled for release over the next 12 months. On the club side of things, Switch’s ‘Get ya Dub On’ turned out to be an underground house anthem with heavy spins coming from the likes of Lottie, Pete Tong, Ralph Lawson and Laurent Garnier to name but a few. This release clearly emphasised that Freerange can cut it on the dancefloor too.
Jamie Odell (Jimpster) continues to push the Freerange sound at his regular guest DJ spots the world over as well as in his radio mixes.
