Sweet Sensation

I’ll be spinning for Manchester’s Out of the Gloom this coming Saturday at Dave Haslam’s Sweet Sensation at The Ruby Lounge.

You can expect all types of music from both rooms, classic funk, quality soul, disco, broken-beat and house anthems galore. Joining Dave in the main room will be Chris E, whilst the Out of the Gloom room features new resident Gavin Hayes, Geoff B (pass the feeling on) and my good old self.

Some background info on the night:

“For five years or more ‘Sweet Sensation’ has built up a reputation for attracting a great crowd of enthusiastic clubbers getting off on a joyous mix of tunes. Usually without a press release or flyers or any of that jazz, sometimes word-of-mouth only, sometimes barely advertised, sometimes guest-list only, ‘Sweet Sensation’ takes place at various venues, irregularly, always with a wonderful sense of an event.

Dave Haslam is a writer and DJ who DJ’d at the Hacienda club in Manchester through the late 1980s and has since played worldwide. His huge and eventful DJ history includes touring with the Stone Roses, aftershow parties for New Order, Depeche Mode, and Gorillaz, and gigs in Chicago, Detroit, Zurich, Reykjavik, Paris, Lyon, and Ibiza.

In May last year (2008) he played two nights at ‘Aura’ in Lima (Peru), and has recently played in Geneva, Paris and Berlin.

Given how fabulous ‘Sweet Sensation’ has always been, expect quality Saturday night sounds and a very friendly crowd of sweaty music lovers.”
